Reality through textuality.

It should be obvious that the way we understand the world around us is entirely depende[a]nt on language. It is through language that our reality is shaped. The words we use, the way we use them is oh so important. True, reality would not cease to exist if there was no language to explain it. However, what would reality and existence mean without the help of language?

Agreeably, the expression, “lost for words” is apt in its intention. When we have trouble explaining reality, an event, situation, object, emotion, etc: Then we are indeed lost for words. There are various philosophies regarding language and reality, yet I’m not going to bore or confound you (but mainly myself) with the details.

Words are wonderful (As you already know) seeing as they allow us to not only document reality (as seen in factual texts) but to create and manipulate new ones (I think the word fiction applies). The aim of this exploration is to consider fiction and its power in creating new worlds.

And so, through a series of experiments we’ll be exploring language and reality through textuality.

This is Oddeology.
